11 Tips for Successful Affiliate Marketing
1. Choose 1 main niche and 1 secondary niche to market. Research products at Clickbank or other affiliate banks.
2. Select 2 or 3 products to promote. No more or you'll become overwhelmed.
3. Sign up and get your affiliate links.
4. Do some thorough keyword research. Google has free tools you can use. https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
Print your keyword list and use your main keyword in your domain name.
5. Purchase an inexpensive domain.
6. Create a free giveaway product - an original, fact filled report related to your product or niche is a good option.
7. Set up a hosted blog with an opt-in box and squeeze page. WordPress is a free hosted blog you can use.
8. Write a keyword rich headline for your blog page, and no more than 3 paragraphs describing the benefits of your free offer. Focus on the offer here, NOT your product. Be pursuasive but not pushy. Encourage your reader to provide you with their name and email in exchange for this "must have" item.
9. Set up an autoresponder message series connected to your opt-in box. Start with a Thank You and Welcome page and immediate download of the free item. AWeber is a good service for this.
- Send 10 messages for 10 consecutive days to your new subscriber giving more information about your niche and product.
- Give before you take. Give useful, valuable information, a free ecourse, or ebook.
- Start promoting your product after the 10th information message has been sent. You have now built up some confidence in your prospective customer by not giving a sales pitch immediately. This goes a long way to getting him/her to trust you.
- Promote your product by placing your product/affiliate link in the body of the message at 3 different intervals.
- Make sure your link is cloaked before you send it to anyone.
10. Build a highly responsive list. Observing the guidelines in Step 9 will help you to do this.
11. Drive targeted traffic -
- Article marketing - write informational articles about your niche and your product. Post them at article sites such as ezinearticles.com
- Blog posts - create a blog and talk about your product and items of interest to the people you're trying to reach - your target market. Link your blog to your product sales page.
- Social media - here again, create a relationship with your list. Don't sell. Just link to your product web page.
- Press Releases - Write keyword rich releases with headlines focused on getting media attention. Announce new happenings in your company and your chosen niche. Announce your website launch. Talk about anything noteworthy about your product.
- all with links pointing back to your domain with the opt-in box and squeeze page where you'll collect their name and email. Or send traffic directly to the website of the affiliate product you are promoting.

After you sign up, these vendors pay commissions to you when your website visitors or persons who click on your ads click through to their sites and purchase their product.

Some of these vendors just require that you copy and paste the text ads or banners into your site on relevant pages. The idea is that your visitors will see them and purchase the products if the page content is related to what you're advertising.
Others provide you with pre-written emails, articles and classified ad copy which you can use to promote their product in other locations, and email campaigns you set
up with an autoresponder.
They give you every tool you need. All FREE. Some even offer "affiliate newbies" marketing training and tips for getting the most out of their program.
You can make a very substantial living doing this and it costs nothing to get started.
Most Article Marketing sites are FREE to use, and the affiliate program vendors have the links available for you on their sites. You publish their pre-written articles with your affiliate link embedded or use a link to your web page where the product is advertised. This builds traffic to your site and you earn commissions for each purchase.
It's advisable to add your own comments at the begining or end of any pre-written articles provided. This adds your personal "stamp" to the information and helps to establish you as an expert in your niche. It also keeps the spiders from penalizing you for publishing duplicate content.
You can also build traffic and increase your sign ups with email campaigns using the pre-written emails and an autoresponder service that provides double opt-in prospects (people who confirm that they requested work-at-home business information or whatever your chosen niche is) to ensure that you are not guilty of spamming.
